The traits we look for are calving-ease, growth, fertility, maternal and carcass. The tools used in our selection process for these traits are EPDs, ultrasound data, visual appraisal and individual performance. We take data collection seriously with all our calves being entered into the AHIR® program. Currently we are the only farm in Maine to ultrasound our calves, a step that we feel is an important tool for the serious cattleman.
